The Jagdberg Tunnel, a new section of the A4 Eisenach to Görlitz Highway located between the Magdala and Jena/Göschwitz junctions, has been under construction since 2008. Completion of the two three-lane tunnel bores, each 3.1 km in length, is expected as from early 2013. The long gradients otherwise encountered have in the past resulted in enormous daily hindrance to traffic, with the result that completion of the tunnel through the Leutra valley will provide extremely welcome relief.
