New Pforzheim Tunnel to be completed by 2025
The 903 m long Pforzheim rail tunnel, constructed from 1858 to 1860 between Ispringen and Pforzheim on the Pforzheim–Mühlacker line, most recently underwent refurbishing in 1984 and is now to be replaced; a new tunnel is currently under construction, using underground tunnelling methods, and will take the form of a waterproofed structure running parallel to the old tunnel.
