The Research Association for Underground Construction
(STUVA) staged its Conference – held every 2 years – on this occasion from December 6 to 8, 2011 on the Berlin fairgrounds. The topical theme was “Underground Construction for Sustainable Environmental and Climate Protection”. More than 1,400 tunnellers from over 30 countries attended the Conference – the world’s largest in this field – in Berlin, a city located in flatlands but nevertheless one with a long tunnelling tradition.
