New Pforzheim Tunnel
In November 2014 the Deutsche Bahn launched measures for building a new rail tunnel between Ispringen and Pforzheim on the route between Karlsruhe and Mühlacker. The existing 903 m long tunnel was produced between 1858 and 1860, provided with an overhead line in 1958 and renovated in 1984. Following extensive investigations it was decided that further redevelopment was not worthwhile either in technical or economic terms.
