Final Plan Approval Resolution for the Wendlingen–Ulm Rail Link
On March 25 the German Federal Railway Authority gave the go-ahead for the final plan approval resolution for the new Wendlingen-Ulm rail route, section 2.1 a/b “Wendlingen-Kirchheim”. The executive chairman of the DB Projekt Stuttgart–Ulm GmbH, Martin Leger, said that planning approval fitted in well with the planning procedure, after the remaining construction measures had been presented to the building industry in recent weeks. “Briefing at an early stage is designed to shorten the amount of time required to submit application documents for potential contractors”, added Jens Hallfeldt, the DB-Projekt manager for the entire Albvorland contract section. “We intend commissioning the work in this section by the end of the year. We count on the main construction activities commencing at the start of 2016”. The “Wendlingen-Kirchheim” section is roughly 9 km long and includes the Albvorland Tunnel with a length of 8176 m.
