Construction started on S-21 Tunnel “Untertürkheimer Kurve”

The DB Projekt Stuttgart–Ulm GmbH began building the S-21 Tunnel “Untertürkheimer Kurve” at Untertürkheim in mid-October 2016. The first construction phase entails producing the trough for the rail line passing through the tunnel together with the start-up section by means of cut-and-cover. Pile walls are installed in the soil for securing the necessary construction pits. The construction area, which required the removal of tracks being used for goods traffic, is situated in the middle of the system of tracks at the goods station.
