Renewal of Two Tunnels
On the twin-track Lahntal route the 319 m long Hollrich Tunnel and the 232 m long Langenau Tunnel between Nassau and Obernhof were built in 1860 and are located some 1,000 m apart. After more than 150 years age has taken its toll so that renovation is essential.
In order to ensure that these tunnels comply with modern requirements their clear cross-section also had to be enlarged; the cross-section has to be widened by some 2 m and a new inner shell made of concrete installed.
