Youth Forum of the STUVA Conference 2023: Trip Report by Award Winner Fabian Rauch
As part of the STUVA Conference, up to five young engineers are regularly given the opportunity to present their projects or research topics on the big stage in the “Youth Forum” competition and to be judged by the expert audience in attendance. The winner not only receives fame and honour, but also an exclusive trip to a major tunnel construction project.
Fabian Rauch, M. Sc., from the Technical University of Munich won the most recent competition at the STUVA Conference 2023 with his presentation “New insights into the real load-bearing behaviour of a reinforced concrete segment tunnel”. The prize included a trip to Norfolk in the US state of Virginia, to the construction site of the “Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion” project, the largest highway construction project in Virginia‘s history.
