The required precut in the terrain as well as the working and storage areas for the Albabstieg Tunnel has long been completed. The first 300 m of the 5.9 km long section, over which the trains between Dornstadt and Ulm Main Station are to travel as from 2021, have already been mastered by the tunnellers of the consortium headed by Züblin and Max Bögl. The 24-h operation commenced following the tunnel start-up at the end of June. Towards this end the two bores of the Albabstieg Tunnel are being driven by mining means.
