Visp South Bypass: Eyholz Tunnel

The bypass represents an important part-section of the future A9 national highway in the Canton of Valais leading from Lausanne to Brig-Glis with directionally separated traffic. Some 7 of the total 8.8 km are tunnels including 5 underground branch structures: the 4.2 km long Eyholz Tunnel, which has largely been excavated, and the 3.2 km long Visp Tunnel, which is to be embarked on in 2012 – with the Vispertal Tunnel, which has been in service since 1996 being developed to form the southern bore of the Visp Tunnel.
