Universal Test Rig at the Central Construction Lab, Münster University of Applied Sciences
Since autumn 2014 loading potential tests with the new universal test rig have been performed regularly in the central construction laboratory (BZL) of the FH Münster University of Applied Sciences in Germany. On the occasion of the official opening ceremony in May, the laboratory invited company representatives, members of the faculty of civil engineering and other interested parties to the Fachhochschulzentrum for a demonstration.
200 kilonewtons press down on a 20 cm wide, 30 cm high and 3.60 m long reinforced concrete beam. There is creaking and cracking, pieces splinter off, the first cracks can be observed. If there were not four steel bars integrated for strengthening, as reinforcement, the beam would break apart.
