Klang Valley MRT Project: Breakthrough of CREG EPB TBMs

Designed and manufactured by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. (CREG), the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) CR-51 and CR-50 have successfully completed two 2814 m long tunnels in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The breakthroughs of CR-51 and 50 were celebrated during the morning of October 21 and October 29, 2014 respectively at Parsar Seni Station, part of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) Project.

The excavation diameter for both tunnel was 6670 mm each and they have been bored through the Kenny Hill Formation which features residual soil with highly and moderately weathered...
