Implenia builds E39 Section near Bergen, including 7 km of Tunnels
Implenia, in the face of competition from four rivals, secured the lowest tender for a major infrastructure contract in Norway. At the end of April the Swiss construction and construction services company was awarded the contract worth a total of around CHF 180 million (1.463 billion Norwegian kroner) by Norway's Public Roads Administration to build a section of road between the towns of Svegatjørn and Rådal. This section is part of the E39, a major transport link running from Bergen to Trondheim. The 18 km stretch for which Implenia will be responsible includes several tunnels with a total length of approximately 7 km, together with associated traffic systems and about 1.5 km of drainage tunnel. The project also covers several sections of road, three bridges, five gantries and several technical buildings. After the contract signing, which is scheduled for summer, construction work is due to start in September 2015. The work will take around six and a half years and should all be completed 2022.
