Concepts and Procedures for the Upgrading and Retrofitting of Fire Protection Equipment of underground Structures (KOINOR)

Motivation

A fire in a tunnel is not only a direct threat for people. From temperatures of about 300 °C, massive damage can also be caused to the structure itself. Due to their age, numerous tunnel systems do not show adequate resistance to fires. In order to improve these tunnels with as little interruption of traffic as possible, the preparation of new processes and concepts is necessary.
