Brine Freezing for Cross-Passages in the Liefkenshoek Tunnel
The Liefkenshoek rail tunnel is being constructed in Antwerp. Ground freezing for 15 cross-passages represents part of the scheme. The altogether 16.5 km long rail tunnel will form a new north-south link for goods trains within the port of Antwerp/Belgium. All drilling operations are undertaken under a 15 to 40 m water column using special preventers.
