For the Crossrail project a new rail link (approx. 30 km) is to be driven beneath central London involving 2 single-track tunnel bores roughly 7 m in diameter using a total of 8 tunnel boring machines. The activities are divided into several contract sections. The 6.4 km long C300 section between Royal Oak and Farringdon is being executed by the joint venture consisting of BAM Nutall (involving Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG), Ferrovial Agroman and Kier Construction (BFK) – with a contract volume of some 500 million pounds sterling (600 million euros).
