Galgenbuck Tunnel: Redevelopment of the Schaffhausen-South A4 Hub
By revamping the Schaffhausen-South hub the A4 motorway is to be linked up with the local highway network. The 1,138 m long Galgenbuck Tunnel between Engi and Bahntal with 2 lanes featuring 2-way traffic and a 4.5 % gradient in the direction of Bahntal represents the core element of this construction scheme. It underpasses the municipality of Neuhausen at the Rhine Falls in a curve with roughly 500 m radius and the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) Charlottenfels Tunnel at a distance of 5.50 m.
