The Hirschhagen Tunnel approved

The plan approval decision for the construction section from Helsa-East to Hessisch Lichtenau-West of the A44 motorway also marks work starting on the 4.1 km long Hirschhagen Tunnel, the longest on the A44 and also the longest road tunnel in Hessen.

In keeping with the latest safety standards the tunnel will possess 2 two-lane bores, which are linked with one another by means of evacuation tunnels.
