Noise Abatement in Hamburg: Hochtief builds Stellingen Tunnel
The A7 in the Hamburg area is one of the busiest motorways in Germany. 152 000 vehicles use the section between the Hamburg-Northwest hub and the Hamburg-Stellingen link on a daily basis. This means that the absolute capacity limit for a six-lane motorway is exceeded by around 25 %. As a result, an over-average amount of accidents and continual tailbacks occur here. The A7 carriageways are thus to be extended from six to eight lanes in the Stellingen and Altona sections and from four to six lanes in the Schnelsen section.
