Bung-PEB: New Member in the Management Team and Expansion of Business Areas

In early 2022, Dr.-Ing. Carsten Peter has become a member of the management team at Bung-PEB Tunnelbauingenieure. Carsten Peter graduated in civil engineering from the Ruhr University Bochum in 1996. In the following 26 years, he gained extensive knowledge in the field of tunnel construction and geotechnics at the engineering company Maidl und Maidl in Bochum. Since 2013, he has also been a certified inspection expert in geotechnics and tunnelling for the German Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt) and carries out consulting, expert and inspection assignments. As part of an external doctorate at the University of Wuppertal with the topic „Load-bearing behaviour of traffic tunnels in case of fire with an inner shell made of PP fibre-reinforced concrete“, Carsten Peter obtained his doctorate in 2017. Since 2015, he has been a lecturer at the Georg Agricola University of Applied Sciences in Bochum in the field of post-mining and geotechnical engineering.

In addition to all object/structural planning and monitoring activities for underground construction projects, structural engineering inspections and tunnel construction engineering consulting can now also be carried out from the Dortmund office with the expertise and experience of Dr. Peter.

Digitalisation, New Working Methods and BIM Planning

With numerous major projects and many kilometres of tunnelling, Bung-PEB has special expertise and experience in mechanised tunnelling and trenchless utility line construction. A wide range of construction tasks can be realised thanks to the connection to the Bung Group with its other key competences in structural engineering, traffic route construction, construction supervision and infrastructure management. Special attention is also paid to digitalisation, new working methods and the now ubiquitous BIM methodology. BIM-based planning and visualisation in particular are being actively developed and implemented in projects. One example is Germany‘s longest railway tunnel, the Erzgebirge Tunnel as part of the new Dresden–Prague line.
