Noise and Vibration Protection in Rail Transport, 21–23 October 2024 in Ostfildern
Adequate noise and vibration protection facilitates the implementation of new light rail and railway projects, as well as the extension or renewal of existing lines. The affected population in the area of influence of a line is thus protected from considerable noise exposure. The implementation of appropriate and necessary protection measures requires knowledge of the basic technical possibilities.
Aim of the seminar: The German-language seminar “Noise and vibration protection in rail transport”, 21–23 October 2024 in Ostfildern near Stuttgart, will cover the whole spectrum of generation, propagation and reduction of vibrations and airborne noise in rail transport. The causes of excitation and ways of reducing emissions and immissions will be presented. Effective mitigation measures for specific challenges are presented. National and international (EU) legislation is described. The relevant standards and guidelines are discussed and the requirements for acoustic and vibration assessments are presented.
Potential participants: All employees involved in immission control issues in public transport companies, DB AG, authorities (environmental departments, supervisory authorities), engineering offices, research institutions, companies in the track industry and maintenance.
Programme: Introduction, basics • Explanation of key terms based on standards and guidelines • Protection against vibrations and secondary noise at DB AG • Protection of residents from rail traffic noise − impairments and reduction of noise emissions • Measurement and assessment of vibrations − emissions and immissions • Curve noise • Case law on noise and vibrations in rail traffic, requirements for acoustic and vibration expert reports • Noise reduction measures for tracks and wheels
Speakers: Dipl.-Ing. Rüdiger Garburg, Deutsche Bahn AG, Berlin; Dr. Christoph Gramowski, Schrey & Veit GmbH, Sendlingen; Dipl.-Ing. Michael Jäcker-Cüppers, Berlin (formerly Federal Environmental Agency Dessau); Hartmut Heinrich, lawyer specialising in administrative law, property valuation expert, h2°k, Munich
Chairman: Dr.-Ing. Friedrich Krüger, STUVA e. V., Köln
