Contract Awarded for Construction Section With Railroad Tunnel and Station in the West Link Project in Gothenburg
Trafikverket, the Swedish transport infrastructure authority, has awarded Implenia a construction section of the Haga project within the new West Link connection in western Sweden. The complex inner-city rail project in Gothenburg is to be carried out in a partnership-based contract model. The contract is worth more than 100 million euros.

The West Link project will connect Gothenburg's local transport system to the lines running through the city. Three new stations are being built to relieve the main station. Travel will be made easier by increasing train frequencies, shortening journey times and eliminating the need to change trains. More residents and commuters will now be able to reach a downtown station on foot or by bike.
In addition to the railroad tunnel, the parallel service and emergency tunnel and the ventilation and fire protection tunnels, Implenia is also building the new underground “Haga” station with platforms and three entrances. The commissioned project is scheduled to start in fall 2024 and be completed in 2029.
